Designed for an approximate 4.5 million passengers annually, the Lucknow terminal explores the intersection of passenger movement, user experience, complex programming operational efficiency, budget, investment and sustainable solutions.
Inspired by the caopy of a banyan in a square, the roof of the terminal is designed as a self-suffcient entity over a large public space. A system of roof skylights and domes are positioned and configured to let in the natural light. Photo voltaic panels and rain water harvesting sysems are integrated into the roof to offer other sustainable design solutions.
